Scrapbooking tips and ideas
Scrapbooking is a beautiful way for (younger and older) creative people to be busy with the Bible. You can start with a Bible verse, a certain theme, or the topic/text of the church service, and make a scrapbook page with all the things you find that connect to this verse or theme. For example:
- Bible verses (including cross reference texts)
- Psalms, Psalters, or hymns
- Poems
- Quotes (hand lettering?)
- Pictures (tip: buy cheap books at a thrift store to cut pictures from, or use old magazines)
- Newspaper articles (or just the headings)
- Your own painting or drawing
- Your own personal story
- The theme and points of the church sermon
Use your own creativity! All the connecting verses, songs, pictures, etc. will hopefully help you to think more deeply about the Bible verse or theme you chose.
Family activity
Choose a theme or Bible verse as a family. Each family member looks for things to add to the scrapbook page throughout the week. At the end of the week, make one scrapbook page as a family. Encourage each other to explain why a certain picture, song, quote, etc. was chosen.
If you don't particularly enjoy scrapbooking, you could also hang up a magnet board or cork board. Instead of scrapbooking the pictures, songs, etc., each family member can put their findings on the magnet or cork board throughout the week. At the end of the week, empty the board to make room for a new Bible verse or theme.
